Day Three...

We are using the slow computers in our hostel, so we'll have to wait until tomorrow to post more pictures... Today was another interesting and adventurous day!

Jess had to move into a new room because of flooding problems in her ground floor bathroom. She is now in a large room with an equally beautiful view and a balcony. Hoo ray! Part of the morning was spent moving clothes etc. Then, we went to breakfast where the hostel fed us like queens and kings (like they have since we have arrived). We have made an observation while were here that people from the Czech Republic eat a BUNCH and they eat heavy fried food and meat. Yet, the majority of the Prague population stay extremely thin. We've also noticed that people from the CR walk a lot, so this might explain their ability to stay so slim. For example, we ordered a pizza today (large cheese) and the waitress asked if we were going to have two of them. We kind of laughed like 'yeah right' like we could each eat a large pizza. We noticed before we were served that everyone else (all Czechs) each ordered their own LARGE pizza, beers, soda, etc. at ate them until they were gone. Interesting!

This morning we spent some time listening to ZB (our director) at our Orientation. He shared basic information about our trip such as when classes are and what is expected of us concerning our academics. We found out that we will only be having class from 8-10:30 am every day...this means that we will have A LOT of time to do some more exploring. We can't wait to visit all the museums, parks, shopping districts, and restaurants we have read about in our books/on the internet/etc.

This afternoon we went into "Old Town" and visited some of the shops. We also went to dinner with our class in an old midevil restaurant near Charles Bridge and the Prague Castle. We walked there as a group through a beautiful park which led to the castle. It only took about 20 minutes to walk to the castle and another 5 or so to continue to the bridge. The restaurants was kind of strange. We ate in a dark - musty basement with cheesy medeival music playing in the background. We (jess + zach) shared a dish which consisted of six weird friend pancakes with sauerkraut. We weren't sure how we felt about them, but we decided that we were glad we did not live in the middle ages.

We heard about the troubles in London and we are saddened that our world can sometimes be a very scary place. Luckily, we are very safe in the Czech Republic and the fact it is not a major player in the geo-political world means this place is an incredibly unlikely target for such an attack. We feel so safe here and feel fortunate to have chosen this place to study for its beauty and its friendly people.

We love you all and hope you are doing well! We miss you a whole lot!
