Jane and Jodi: Day 2

The past two days have been spent showing Jess' mom and Jodi around Prague to our favorite parts of town! Yesterday we went to Wenceclas Square where Jess' mom was able to pose next to the "Blind Stick" sculpture. Then, the rest of the morning and early afternoon was spent catching up on e-mail, phone calls, and future reservations for hotels and trains. Jess and Zach went on a short class excursion visiting famous Havel (first president of the Czech Republic after Communism fell) sites. We saw where he met with others to plan revolutions and where he stayed during his frequent visits to jail during the Czech Communism era. It was a very interesting tour led by our political science teacher, Melissa. The best part of the tour was the last stop, which was Havel's favorite pub.

Jess' mom and Jodi went to the "Jewish Quarter" in Prague (see more of their trip - travelswithmom.blogspot.com).

We all met up back at the hostel and went out to one of our favorite vegetarian restaurants near Old Town. We brought our friend Ken with us who is a "hoot". After our delicious meal we showed Jane and Jodi around the touristy part of town, which included the famous trek across Charles Bridge. We then went to our favorite place to get pizza and ice cream in our part of town (Bubenec) and ate some tasty ice cream.

It has been super hot here the past two days. In fact, Monday set a record high for Prague (it was somewhere around 98 degrees haha - insert boy band joke). Today, however has been much cooler. We think the high was around 77 degrees. It is supposed to cool off for the rest of the week (maybe in the lower 70's upper 60's).

Today we went to class in the morning and then met up with Jane and Jodi. Instead of taking the Metro around town we decided to take Jane and Jodi the "long way". We walked thruogh Letna park to the Prague Castle. We then walked through the Prague Castle (it is huge!) to the "Lesser Quarter" to go see the famous Infant Jesus of Prague.

After seeing the I.J.P. we went to Bohemia Bagel and had some tasty food and bottomless soft drinks. We showed Jane and Jodi the "FUN-icular" at Petrin Park and took a ride in its 'magic'. It started to rain a bit, so we decided to jet for our favorite coffee shop, Cafe Ebel in Old Town.

We stopped in a few shops on the way and rested while drinking Fresh Orange juice and tea. We then headed back to the hostel to get ready for our dinner at U Fleku, a famous/touristy 500 year old restaurant.

We miss you all so much. We are having major "feelings" about Louisville. Prague is a great city and we are so thankful and happy to have had the opportunity to study here. However, we miss every one back home. Hope you all are having a great summer!

love,

jess + zach

Awesome! I like the picture of my mom & 2 sisters in the FUNiclar. I am confused about the contraption referred to as the FUNiclar. I think I will build a FUNiclar in my backyard for PugPuggy to ride. It will be a slide going off my back porch into the grass. Weeeeeee!

Have fun!
