So...we had a "chicken hangover" this morning after we ate an entire roasted chicken between the two of us last night. We guessed this morning that eating a whole chicken to ourselves wasn't such a great idea considering we haven't consumed a large amount of meat in four years. I mean a WHOLE chicken! What were we thinking!? It was very tasty, though and since we both have felt dizzyish from doing so much walking and not consuming enough protein we are feeling a lot more energetic today. Oh yeah, and we bought an ice cream cake at the grocery store last night and ate the whole thing of that too. That was perhaps even tasty-er. We are racking up all the lost calories of a week and half worth of walking a least 5-10 miles a day.

(Mmmmmmmmmm...whole rotisserie chicken...)

Last night we decided to go to our favorite "outdoor hangout", Letna park. A big dog (not on a leash, of course!) came up to Jess and rubbed his nose all over her finger. Unfortunately, his nose had some poop from another dog on it, so Jess had to walk around the rest of the park holding her hand out like it was contaminated with a lethal substance. It was not pleasant, but funny.

Today we adventured to Narodni Muzeum, the big national museum of C.R. We looked around for a little while and stopped before the area where you have to pay to get in. We are going to wait to do some more exploring in the museum when we are with the Art History class because we will get in free.

(Jessica met a Woolly Mammoth baby and almost got yelled at in Czech for petting it - the sign said we were supposed to help find his mom, but because we're cheapskates and didn't venture into Muzeum, we left him out front lost and all alone - poor little guy)

We also made some phone calls home to our mommies and daddies. It was good to hear their voices!

We also went to a beautiful park near the museum and had some coffee and traditional "palacinky" which is similar to a French crepe. We sat outside and ate and drank. Next to us was a mother and her daughter who was crying despite the fact her mother had bought her some ice cream. We were shocked to find out that in the C.R. it is completely normal for children to use the restroom out in the open. We guessed it wouldn't have been so shocking if we were in a park with no bathrooms, but we were in a really nice place in a beautiful old building in the middle of a busy residential area. The fourish year old crying girl just went to the bathroom (pants down and all) on the concrete next to a tree, while there were a few people, including us sitting outside enjoying a delicious meal. We found this an interesting tidbit of Czech formality/informality.

The next few days we will be getting ready to leave Prague for four days. We are both looking forward to a change of scenery. We walk around the city so much every day that we are really getting to know the city quite well.

Love you all!

Jess and Zach,
I loved the pictures of the cane and the guide dog. You'll have to check and see if there is a school for the blind in Prague. My suitcase is packed, flowers watered and tomatoes picked. I leave at 11:35 from Louisville and at 3:45 from Chicago. We get to Rome at 7:45 a.m. It will be hard to stay awake all day. Benedict XVI left yesterday for his mountain retreat, perhaps the crowds will be smaller. Dad has been following the weather in Rome and the forecast is not bad at this time. After Rome we are going to Assisi before we are on to Austria. In Rome we are staying with the Dominican Nuns which will probably be different than staying at a hostel with college kids..maybe:). Love Mom

Mom and Jodi are in the air to Rome on flight AA110. I'm trying to track but not having much luck. It left late, approx. 6 PM Central time, and is to arrive at approx. 10:53 AM Rome time. Jodi thought that the later arrival might work in their favor, IF they actually could sleep on the plane. I played golf yesterday in the KSBCF tournament. I haven't played golf since I left Arizona, and I should have tried harder to keep that streak going. However, I had a great time riding around in the golf cart, LOOKING LIKE A GOLFER, and saying golf stuff like--FORE!! I had not intended to play, so I just used one of the other players clubs! I think that at least once in the next 15 years I will try it again. The last time I played I was partnered with Jennifer on one of the great Tucson courses. That is a very fond memory-the quality bonding time with Jennifer, NOT the golf. I'm sorry Jennifer, I know that I promised to never embarass the family again, but I really thought that after 15 years of not playing that I would improve. Take care and love ya. Dad
