We're gonna have a feast!

Dobry Den, again!

Our past twenty four hours have been very interesting ones, as we have enjoyed our first real "club" experience, tasted the Czech take on Mexican food, and are preparing ourselves for the "feast of a Lifetime."

Last night we went with our friends Nate, Jenny, and Ken to Club Cross in Holsevice, about 30 minutes by Metro from our Hostel (5 minutes by cab as we later found out). Being our first time in any sort of real dance club, we were unsure of what to expect. Well, it was exactly as one would expect - way-too-loud music, too many drunk people, and horrible white-person Czech dancing (yes, they dance worse than us Americans). But, we were with our friends, just hanging out, so we had a good time. We met some nice Brits and a Slovak with who we had lengthy conversations over the din of dance music. It being Prauge, people don't really come out until around midnight, so we didn't leave until three in the morning, at which time we took a taxi on account that the Metro closes at midnight. Taxis here are the same as in America - absolutely frightening. Zach sat in the front and was the only one privy to the driver's actions: Text messaging with one hand, while steering and receiving a dispatch with the other. A frightening experience rounding out an altogether interesting night.

This morning we met up with our friend Ken and took the short Metro ride to Mala Strana, the "Lesser District" directly below the Prague Castle. Here there is a small park called Kampa Park where tourists and locals mingle, sunbathing and spending a relaxing afternoon. We went to a small coffee bar on the small portion of river that separates Kampa from the mainland. We sat and relaxed for a good time, enjoying our al fresco seating and the great espresso. Afterwards, it being three o'clock and still not having had lunch, we went to a small "Mexican" restaurant. We say "Mexican" because the only thing that really made the food Mexican was the tortilla surrounding the food. Vegetables tasted very Czech, and beans were nowhere to be found.

We took the Metro back, and as soon as we're done writing this we will be feasting. "Upon what?" you may ask...

A full roast chicken. Only six dollars. The best deal in town behind the 25-cent 1.5 litre of water. No, it's not vegetarian, but it fits into our budget much better than the semi-expensive vegetarian restaurants we've had to frequent, and there is no preparation necessary (which is good, as we are quite unskilled at working with the stoves provided at the hostel: reference 4 July entry).

Tomorrow we have classes again, as well as Tuesday. Wednesday morning we leave for a group excursion around this area of Czech Republic, from which we will be returning on Saturday. We are very excited for this trip, as Bohemia, the region surrounding us, is supposed to be absolutely gorgeous.

'Til next time,
Love,

Wow! I imagine that roasted chicken to be a cheerleader with white pom-poms. It cheer would be, "2-4-6-8! Flightless birds really taste great! Go Chickens!!!" or maybe "Give me a K! Give me an F! Give me a C! What's that spell: me, me, me!" I am loving this blog.
